Cheapest Samsung Galaxy s4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is now over a year old and if you haven't heard it's been replaced in 2014 by the Korean firm's latest flagship offering, the Galaxy S5.

Its replacement hasn't spelt the end for the Galaxy S4 however - it's still on sale, at a lower price point, and Samsung is continuing to churn out software updates for it.
The latest software upgrade arrived in the form of Android 4.4 KitKat and we're currently putting the Galaxy S4 back through its paces with the new software onboard. We'll be updating this review shortly with the latest findings.

One of the most impressive things about the phone was the fact the size hadn't changed from the Galaxy S3 - the Galaxy S4 comes in at 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9mm (5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inches), meaning there's no extra heft to try to work with in your palm.

Here are some top tips and tricks to get you started on your Samsung Galaxy S4:

However, despite this fact, the screen on the S4 has been increased once more, to a 5-inch display with Full HD resolution. OK, so it's no longer a big deal when compared to the 5.5-inch QHD offering on the LG G3, but that doesn't mean it's not a greatly impressive screen.

The Galaxy S4 borrowed a lot from the other top smartphones. Both the Sony Xperia Z1 and the HTC One have screens that rock the same resolution, but neither of them have the jaw-dropping clout of the Super AMOLED HD screen on offer here.

On top of that, there's a much faster processor packed under the hood, ample storage space for media thanks to an expandable memory card slot, and the likes of 4G, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and pretty much any other connection you care to mention on board.

Samsung has tried to supplement this with a tranche of software upgrades too, meaning a more powerful camera, a better way to communicate with your friends and consume media, and interestingly a big push into health through dedicated apps too.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has unsurprisingly dropped in price on contract and it can be had around £23 per month, which isn't too bad for a handset which is still pretty well specced.

It can also be had for just £380 SIM-free at Carphone Warehouse, while if you fancy a PAYG deal EE is offering the Galaxy S4 for £339.99, which makes it a decent proposition... and it's much cheaper than the equivalent 16GB iPhone 5C too.

Evolved in its design, both inside and out, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for Verizon Wireless is more innovative than ever. The new exterior is a whole new take on the Samsung Galaxy experience. The sleek magazine-style viewing option always keeps your favorite content right at your fingertips. And the S Pen is a better way to control, write, and get more done.

But even with its advanced features, the Galaxy Note 3 is still simple to use. With features like touch-free voice control, smarter file search and a hassle-free way to transfer your existing content -- it's a simplified experience.

The Galaxy Note 3 features a wider 5.7-inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED display, yet it's slimmer and lighter than its predecessor (8.3mm and 5.93 ounces, respectively) and has a more powerful and longer lasting 3200 mAh battery. It's also equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Smart Stabilization and an improved LED flash to help you capture every visual story in your life -- even in low light and active situations.

Running the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) operating system, the Galaxy Note 3 is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor. It features 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using optional microSD memory cards up to 64 GB.

Multi Window

Do more with the advanced Multi Window feature. Open two windows of the same app, so you can browse your Facebook feed while you post your vacation photos. Or you can drag and drop an address from an email into a Google Maps search without cutting and pasting, so you can get to your destination faster. (Note that Multi Window does not support all applications.)

My Magazine

Everything that matters to you is just a glance away with the magazine-inspired interface, where you can curate content tailored to the things you love. Get instant updates on your favorite sports teams or celebrities, check a live Facebook and Twitter feed, or get suggestions for the best place to grab lunch down the street.

S Pen

Interact with your phone like never before using S Pen. Handwriting input lets you jot notes, compose emails or write text messages by turning your handwriting into text. You can quickly jot down a number and then automatically add it to your contacts later with Action Memo. And if you use your S Pen a little more creatively, you can share your creation with the world on Pen.Up.

Cheapest Samsung Galaxy s5

You know what you’re getting with the Samsung Galaxy S5 before you even unbox it, because this is a 2014 superphone. Big, bright screen. Oodles of power. Brilliant camera.

We’d expect every one of the big smartphone players to get those bits right on their flagships – after all, they’ve been refining these models for years. From now on it’ll be the little details that separate the best-in-class from the also-rans; those seemingly trivial aspects of everyday usability that make the difference between a phone that’s lovely to live with and one that’s merely a tool.

Galaxy smartphones are known for going big: on screens, specs, software tricks and, of course, sales. The S5 is no exception, but the small stuff can be just as exciting as the headline features, and that’s what the S5 will need to get right if it’s to become the very best.

If there’s one obvious way that Samsung still falls behind its rivals, it’s industrial design.

The Galaxy S4’s clammy, all-plastic build didn’t feel particularly nice to hold - the kind of smartphone you really don’t mind putting a case on. While the S5 is instantly recognisable as a Galaxy, Samsung has tweaked the design by adding a dimpled polycarbonate (still removable) back panel to give your fingers something to adhere to. In that regard it works. This is a big, wide phone but that new texture combines with Note 3-style metal-look ridges to make this the grippiest Galaxy yet. It’s just as light as the S4 (OK, 15g heavier) and is also more solidly built that its predecessor, which was prone to the odd creak.

Improving on the S4 isn’t enough, though. Next to the impressively engineered LG G2 the S5 looks a generation behind, with wider bezels on the front and a larger overall handprint. The G2 simply has a better screen-to-size ratio.

Second, how a phone feels when you grab it 100 times a day is half the battle. The “Modern Glam” back panel still doesn’t look the part of a RM2000 smartphone. Perhaps it’s exactly the sort of styling Samsung’s hordes of fans are after, but to our eyes this is a long way from the sophisticated curves of the HTC One M8.

We’re not saying “go metal or go home” (the Nexus 5 is a prime example of understated polycarbonate perfection) and ditching the fake stitching of the Note 3 is a good decision, but Samsung needs to think classier.
